Cloudflare launches AEO Visibility Dashboard for AI answer tracking

Cloudflare launched its AEO Visibility Dashboard on Aug. 6, adding a measurement layer to its Answer Engine Optimization suite that is meant to show whether AI assistants are citing, mentioning and ranking brands in generated answers. The company framed the release as a way to give marketers a direct view into whether assistants recommend their business when customers ask relevant questions, a sharper pitch than the usual SEO promise of more traffic.

The move extends a push Cloudflare had already been making around AI agents as a discovery channel. Its earlier Agent Readiness score was designed to help site owners understand how well their websites support AI agents, and the company has been telling publishers and brands to prepare for a world where answers arrive inside AI systems instead of through a list of blue links. The new dashboard shifts the emphasis from readiness to measurement: not just whether a site can be crawled or consumed, but whether it shows up when an assistant makes a recommendation.

Cloudflare is not entering a blank market. An early May story about brand visibility inside Claude and GPT answers pointed to the same problem marketers are now trying to solve: once the answer is generated, the logic behind the recommendation stays opaque. Adweek’s launch posts said the dashboard is in early access and named ChatGPT and Gemini as examples of assistants it can track. That matters because those are exactly the environments where brand teams have been struggling to prove influence, let alone compare one assistant against another.

The real competition is no longer basic rank tracking. Siteimprove said on March 9 that its own AEO insights combine AI citations, prompts, sentiment and revenue attribution in one dashboard, showing how quickly vendors are trying to turn AI visibility into a measurable category. Search Engine Watch has already cast Cloudflare’s move as part of an AI visibility gold rush, and the label fits: every vendor wants to own the dashboard that tells brands where they appear in answer engines.

Cloudflare’s advantage is its existing footprint in networking, crawling and bot management, which gives it a credible route into the measurement stack. But the harder question remains whether any visibility dashboard can do more than count mentions. Marketers will trust the tools that connect AI citations to demand, competitor preference and pipeline, not just another graph of impressions inside a black-box platform.
