Somantra launches Brand Consideration Score for AI search visibility

Somantra launched Brand Consideration Score on Aug. 6, a new AEO metric aimed at a harder question than citations: when ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Claude or Perplexity answer a query, does the system recommend a brand or merely mention it? The company says the score is built from at least 15,000 simulated conversational journeys per brand and grades outcomes from Most Likely to Most Unlikely. Somantra’s Brand Consideration page, updated Aug. 2, frames the product as a way to get a brand “Chosen, not just mentioned.”

The page says the score measures the probability that a human customer would choose a brand based on how AI search engines describe and recommend it against competitors. Somantra’s release describes the system as proprietary and says it evaluates both human and agentic buyers, while the GlobeNewswire version goes further and calls Brand Consideration Score a new ChatGPT and Google AI search ranking factor for brands. That puts the launch in the middle of AEO’s latest measurement fight, where simple mention counts and share-of-voice metrics are no longer enough for marketers trying to tie AI visibility work to pipeline.

The vocabulary shift was already visible elsewhere in 2026. Ziptie was discussing “brand recommendation detection” by June, and Big Human’s March 11 roundup of answer-engine-optimization tools described the category as moving beyond simple visibility dashboards toward more advanced measurement. Somantra is pushing the same idea with its own stack of labels, including Brand Mindshare, Brand Position, Brand Engagement and Brand Consideration, all grouped on its homepage under “AI Search Intelligence for Brands.”

The timing matters because brands are looking for a metric that sounds closer to revenue impact than vanity reach. EY said in a May 11 report that AI is reshaping consumer products selection and accelerating brand consideration risk, while NielsenIQ said 83% of marketing leaders remained confident in their brands but still cited ROI proof and data connectivity as top challenges. Somantra’s LinkedIn profile calls it a “#1 AEO/GEO Tool for Brands” and lists Norwest, New South Wales, with 2-10 employees, a small vendor making a broad claim about the next layer of AI search analytics. Whether consideration becomes a real category or another vendor-made label will depend on whether marketers can prove it predicts choice better than the visibility dashboards that came before it.
