BrandRank.AI said it raised $3 million in seed funding led by Grit Capital Partners and QCA Ventures, money it plans to use to expand an enterprise AI answer engine optimization platform. The deal puts a small Cincinnati company in the middle of a fast-forming market for tools that track and influence how brands show up inside AI-generated answers, not just on old-style search results pages.
BrandRank.AI describes itself as a research services company based in Cincinnati, Ohio, with 2-10 employees. In its own materials, the company says its platform combines AI technology and “human in the loop” marketing expertise, with a goal of helping brand leaders understand ranking and regain control of their narrative and visibility in AI search. That pitch is aimed squarely at enterprises that want more than a single visibility score. They want repeatable reporting, competitive benchmarking and a way to tie AI answer presence to pipeline, reputation and category leadership.
The financing lands as vendors across the search stack race to define the category, whether they call it AEO, GEO, AI visibility or answer engine analytics. The underlying problem is the same: brands want to know what AI systems say about them, whether those systems cite them correctly and how to improve their odds against competitors in ChatGPT-style interfaces and other generative search experiences. A Dealroom note on the transaction said the round was co-led by Grit Capital Partners and QCA Ventures and centered on trust in AI answer engines.
BrandRank.AI founder and chief executive Pete Blackshaw has been making that case in public for more than a year. In a June 24, 2025 AMA Toronto video titled “The Rise of the Answer Economy,” he discussed how answer engines are changing the rules of marketing and what businesses need to do about it. The company had already raised a $1.2 million seed and angel round on July 30, 2024, backed by Sandberg Bernthal Venture Partners, Mercury Fund and former P&G chief executive and Disney chairman Bob Iger.
A Cincinnati Business Courier result said BrandRank.AI closed the $3 million seed round in Cincinnati and linked the deal to a first Cincinnati investment by a New York venture capital firm. That combination of local roots, repeat financing and outside capital suggests the company is trying to prove that AI answer visibility is more than a rebrand of SEO software, and that enterprises will pay for tools built around it.
